The Country Butcher, your premium meat processor. We’ve been in the livestock industry since 1920. That’s four generations, passing down the knowledge and traditions of the meat packing business. It’s a part of our everyday lives and we greatly value the need for quality and safe meat for consumers to put on their tables each night. It’s more than a business, it’s a relationship, and we’ve got a great history.
PROCESS
We at The Country Butcher understand that animal welfare is of the utmost importance to our customers, and we believe in using the most humane animal handling practices available. We have partnered with one of the nation’s top humane animal handling experts, Mark Deesing. With over 20 years of experience working with Temple Grandin designing cattle pens, we believe we are meeting both ours and our customers’ standards when it comes to animal welfare and humane handling.
FACILITY
The facility is located at 400 Chamber Drive in Decatur , Indiana. We are located just off major highways and within a 200-mile radius of some of our nation’s heaviest populated cities.
Our facility is a 60,000 square foot state-of-the-art Beef harvesting and processing plant.
The facility is currently under construction; set up, prep and the cleaning process has begun.
Fall 2023 is the expected start date; we will post timely progress updates to our website.
MEAT
The majority of our meat will come from local farms within a 200-mile radius, and will be sourced within the USA .
With over four generations in the livestock procurement business, we are truly an American Company and understand the importance of our local farmers in the food supply chain.
All of the meat processed in our facility will be USDA inspected to meet all Federal food and safety quality standards. We strive to meet our own standard of being a premium meat processor.
Initially, our first cuts of meat will be sub-primal cuts and trim products which will be sent out to vendors who will further process the meat and put their label on it.
